Having made the move north to study in Liverpool before building her agency experience in Manchester, Lauren joins us with a strong B2B background and more knowledge about insulation than she ever expected to have.
We caught up over a brew to find out more about her career so far, her first impressions of STM AGENCY, the brands she would love to work with and, of course, her brew of choice.
Welcome, Lauren! To get us started, can you tell us a bit about your background and previous experience?
Hello! I’m originally from down South but moved up North to go to the University of Liverpool to study Media & Communications. After that I decided to make the move to Manchester – I’ve worked for a couple of agencies mostly focusing on B2B construction and building products so know probably more than I should about insulation!
What has been your first impressions of working at STM so far?
Everyone’s been lovely! It’s great coming in and seeing new faces and meeting those I’ve not met before. The office is a sociable space, so I’ve been enjoying getting to know people.
What are you looking forward to most about working at STM?
Probably supporting the team and working with some of the fab clients in the travel and retail space. It’s pretty different from my existing experience so it’ll be good to branch out and learn as much as possible from the great team around me!
If you could work with any brand, which would you choose and why?
Ooo I’m a fiend for any of the bigger lifestyle, beauty or fashion brands and love anything that blends a brand into a real-life experience. I loved TALA’s take on this with the ‘Hotel TALA’ campaign earlier this year that supported the launch of their beach and resort wear collection. The concept turned into a fully immersive world and the details like the robes, towels, room service menus (all fully personalised & branded!!) was amazing – I imagine working on something like that would be super fun.
What alternative career route would you have taken if you didn’t do this?
Anyone who knows me knows I am dog obsessed (seriously not an understatement) so I’d definitely be doing something with dogs either dog walking or maybe a vet although I HATED science in school.
What do you do in your spare time?
Love trying new food places or recipes, watching a drama or reading. Also love a holiday but who doesn’t.
Favourite artist, place, and dessert?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Fleetwood Mac – on Spotify they have a load of live versions of their songs and they’re SO good. I love Bowness in the Lake District, Marbella and The Algarve in Portugal as I used to go a lot when I was younger. For dessert I’ll go for chocolate covered strawbs, chocolate buttons or a couple squares of dark chocolate.
Finally, what is your brew of choice?
As a true Libra, I am indecisive to the CORE. It totally depends on the time, day or week but either a peppermint tea, a vanilla matcha, an iced oat vanilla latte, a crispy DC or a Hugo Spritz (after 5pm ofc).
